Top Hat 27 1991
Top Hat 27 ~ With a tender and outboard.
The Top Hat 27 was designed to be compact and capable cruising yacht. With a traditional full-length keel and heavy displacement, the Top Hat 27 has a lovely sea-kindly motion and is a very capable coastal cruiser.
The Top Hat 25 was a very popular and hugely successful design with over 400 built. The Top Hat 27 was the natural evolution of the 25 and featured numerous upgrades and improvements. The result was a more capable cruising design, with 30% more sail area, and a considerably more spacious and comfortable interior.
The cockpit is big for a yacht of this size, making her a pleasure to sail. The design is easily handled by a couple or single handed. There are two new Anderson self-tailing winches in easy reach of the helm. The running rigging runs back to the coach house roof, so she can sailed from the comfort and safety of the cockpit.
The saloon has a very practical and liveable layout and features a generous amount of headroom. The galley features a two burner metho stove and grill, a top loading icebox to keep the food and drinks cool, and an opening hatch for ventilation.
Accommodation is well catered for with a good size double V-Berth forward and a single quarter berth on the starboard side. The dinette can also be converted into an additional berth by lowering the table.
‘Magic’ is powered with a reliable 18hp Yanmar diesel engine. The diesel tank is removable so it can be easily refilled, cleaned and inspected.
The current owners have owned Magic for 12 years. Over that period, she has been very well maintained and upgraded. They purchased her from Pittwater, NSW and shipped her across to WA.
Recent upgrades include a new Furlex Furler 2019, Doyle genoa 2019, standing rigging 2019, two Andersen self-tiling winches 2021, and the antifoul was last done in February 2022.
This is an ideal yacht for someone looking to spend weekends at Rottnest Island, cruise up and down the coast, or simply enjoy the spoils the Swan River has to offer. And with a shallow draft of just 1.4m and a great mast lowering setup, the possibilities are endless!
Magic is currently on a mooring at Mosman Bay. Purchasers will need to make their own enquiries with the DOT in regard to obtaining the mooring licence.
